On Sept. 13 the Hardin Northern student body and many guests gathered in the varsity gym to recognize students that did an outstanding job in the classroom during the 2018-29 school year. Academic letters and pins were awarded to students with 3.0 GPAs or higher for the year.

BLUFFTON —Rehearsals for Bluffton University’s 124th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays each week from Sept. 24-Dec. 3 in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall on campus. There are a total of 10 rehearsals, one dress rehearsal and one concert.

Knitters shared their Hardin County Fair projects and ribbons each won at the Sept. 10 meeting of the Ohio Knit Wits. Entries from Missie Austin, Lewana Butcher, Eileen Chamberlain, Cheryl Cosart, Cathy Guinn, Rhonda Thompson and Rebecca Wells were on display at the meeting. Absent was Deb Sterrett who also had several entries.

The Culture Club traveled to Indian Lake on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Members and a guest gathered at Carol McKinley’s home on Indian Lake at Russells Point. A guided tour was given of her beautiful landscaped garden surrounding her home. Then Carol gave an informative presentation on Monarch butterflies and their migration to and from Mexico.

Ada Kiwanis President Joe Ferguson called the Tuesday, Sept. 10 meeting to order at noon in the Dean’s Heritage Room, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University. Julian Hazelton was welcomed as a guest. A member of the Ada Barnyard Farmers, she spoke briefly about her activities at the 2019 Hardin County Fair.

When you hear the word “tolerance” what comes to mind? It certainly gets tossed around a lot. An article I read recently gave the definition of this: true tolerance is a willingness to acknowledge the beliefs of others in spite, not in absence, of disagreement.

The Memorial Park Bridge Club met on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Pro Shop Annex. The hostess was Mary Hamilton and there were four tables in play. High scores were held by Dan Schryer, Jane Landsberg and Pat Brehm.
